He has recently produced his first flute made from <a title=\"Dalbergia melanoxylon (African blackwood) | Wikipedia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dalbergia_melanoxylon\">African Blackwood<\/a> that is certified by the <a title=\"Forest Stewardship Council\" href=\"https:\/\/fsc.org\/en\">Forest Stewardship Council<\/a> (FSC). The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world\u2019s forests.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Martin has been involved in producing documentaries for radio which explore the use and conservation of African Blackwood. This included <a title=\"Sounding Post \u2013 African Blackwood Conservation | Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.martindoyleflutes.com\/african-blackwood-conservation.html#soundingpost\">Sounding Post<\/a> and <a title=\"The Music Tree \u2013 African Blackwood Conservation | Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.martindoyleflutes.com\/african-blackwood-conservation.html#themusictree\">The Music Tree<\/a> which were both produced by <a title=\"Nina Perry \u2013 composer and sound designer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ninaperry.co.uk\/\">Nina Perry<\/a> of <a title=\"Falling Tree Productions \u2013 one of the world's leading radio production companies\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fallingtree.co.uk\/\">Falling Tree Productions<\/a>. In 2009, in the process of making of The Music Tree, <a title=\"The Tanzanian Adventure Unfolds | News \u2013 Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"\/news\/2009\/09\/03\/the-tanzanian-adventure-unfolds\/\">Martin travelled to Tanzania<\/a> with Nina where he saw first hand the efforts being made to manage the sustainable replanting and harvesting of African Blackwood. The local people who live in and around the Mpingo forests are now involved in all phases of the procedure and are reaping their share in the profits as well \u2013 a welcome stimulation to their economy that raises the standard of living.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_593\" style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-593\" class=\"size-full wp-image-593\" title=\"Joe Doyle playing Martin Doyle's first flute made from FSC certified African Blackwood (Mpingo).\" src=\"https:\/\/www.martindoyleflutes.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/joe-doyle-first-fsc-flute.jpg\" alt=\"Joe Doyle playing FSC flute\" width=\"250\" height=\"219\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joe Doyle playing Martin Doyle&#8217;s first flute made from FSC certified African Blackwood (Mpingo).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Martin was also interviewed regarding the flutes he is making using FSC certified Blackwood by Peter Browne of Ireland&#8217;s <a title=\"RTE Radio 1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/radio\/radio1\/\">RT\u00c9 Radio 1<\/a> and featured on Peter&#8217;s <a title=\"The Rolling Wave | RT\u00c9 Radio 1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/radio\/radio1\/the-rolling-wave\/\">The Rolling Wave<\/a> programme.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Doyle (one of Martin Doyle&#8217;s two sons, pictured right) was recently visiting Martin for a few days at his home near Liscannor in County Clare.
