A native of <a title=\"County Armagh | Wikipedia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/County_Armagh\">County Armagh<\/a> in <a title=\"Northern Ireland | Wikipedia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Northern_Ireland\">Northern Ireland<\/a>, Eimear plays both classical and Irish flutes.<\/p>\n<p>This from Eimear&#8217;s website:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Irish culture and tradition has played a major influence in Eimear&#8217;s life, starting Irish dancing at the age of three and going on to become a Northern Ireland Champion dancer. Eimear began playing whistle at the age of nine and progressed to the traditional <a title=\"About Irish Flutes | Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"\/irish-flutes.html\">Irish flute<\/a> a year later having lessons with Sligo born flautist, <a title=\"S\u00e9amus Tansey | All Celtic Music\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seamus_Tansey\">S\u00e9amus Tansey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Eimear was the Ulster Champion on the whistle when she was eleven years old and later went on to win two All Ireland Champion titles on the Irish flute both as soloist and in a trio with her brother and sister. She performs on the traditional Irish flute regularly including recitals, in the West End Show <a title=\"Lord of the Rings (musical)  | Wikipedia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lord_of_the_Rings_%28musical%29\">Lord of the Rings<\/a>, with folk\/rock band <a title=\"Amsterdam\" href=\"https:\/\/amsterdam-music.com\/\">Amsterdam<\/a>, session studio work in London and is currently recording a solo Celtic Crossover album.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The two tunes Eimear plays are <a title=\"Bean Dubh An Ghleannaaka (The Dark Woman of the Glen) | The Session\" href=\"https:\/\/thesession.org\/tunes\/13358\">The Dark Woman of the Glen<\/a>, a slow air, and <em><a title=\"Fear A' Bhata | The Session\" href=\"https:\/\/thesession.org\/tunes\/8919\">Fir A&#8217; Bhata<\/a><\/em>, a waltz, which was produced by John Tonks. Both pieces are played on a <a title=\"Traditional Flutes | Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"\/traditional-flutes.html\">traditional style Martin Doyle D flute<\/a> made of <a title=\"African Blackwood \u2013 Woods Used For Making Flutes | Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.martindoyleflutes.com\/woods.html#africanblackwood\">African Blackwood<\/a>. We are very grateful to Eimear for her kind permission to feature these tunes which can be heard on Martin Doyle&#8217;s <a title=\"Eimear McGeown \u2013 Flute Music | Martin Doyle Flutes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.martindoyleflutes.com\/music.html#eimearmcgeown\">Flute Music<\/a> page.
