Falling into the category of “better late than never”, Martin Doyle Flutes<\/a> is proud to announce that our very good friend Eimear McGowen<\/a> has recently (April 8, 2018) released her debut album entitled Inis<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 a lovely compact disc packed with stunning flute playing!<\/p>\n

And, not that we wish to steal any of the thunder, we are very proud to have a small but important presence in the totally epic artwork for the Inis<\/em> album cover \u2013 yes, that’s a Martin Doyle flute that Eimear is holding in her hand! But enough about us …<\/p>\n

Inis<\/em> offers tunes that span a broad range of genre \u2013 this is an album that has something for everyone. The online music store CD Baby describes Eimear’s debut album as a “Genre breaking flute album, mixing Irish traditonal, classical, pop and original compositions with filmic arrangements.” Inis<\/em> features a lovely selection of traditional Irish tunes mixed with such classics as Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound of Silence’, Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’, Erik Satie’s ‘Gnossiennes, No. 1’, Eimear’s own variations of a 17th century melody entitled ‘La Folia’ and her first ever composition that lends it’s title to the album. In Eimear’s own words:<\/p>\n

“The title of the album Inis means Island in Irish, and was the first piece I ever composed. When I wrote it, I was a little lost in life and felt a little isolated but I also realised we are all connected and always will be, a bit like islands with the water surrounding them, so that piece reflected this! […] This album has been the culmination of a long journey for me with the seeds sown during a musical collaboration with my producer John Tonks ten years ago. We met whilst recording on a track for a Celtic Chillout American album, John suggested the idea of us working on a full album together and so the adventure began!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
